The Kent Selection tests commonly known as the 11+ exam are the entrance tests to the six local Grammar Schools. The Mead sends pupils to each of these schools:
The tests are sat by Year 6 pupils in the September of their final year at The Mead. The tests consist of an English and Maths paper and a reasoning paper which includes a verbal reasoning section and a non-verbal reasoning section. There is also a writing exercise.
The procedure is highly competitive and The Mead takes the preparation for the tests very seriously. Pupils are tracked throughout their time at The Mead and parents are kept fully informed of progress and achievements enabling them to make an informed decision regarding their child’s future secondary education.
