Tue 10th Oct 2017 : It's All About Autumn for Kindy & Pre-Reception!
Kindergarten and Pre-Reception have been thoroughly enjoying their seasonal activities this term, with lots of autumnal fun from leaf printing to conker counting to creating autumn sun catchers.
The children made a beautiful autumn leaf mobile by painting a branch in autumn colours, threading leaves onto orange wool which they then hung on the branch and finally counted how many leaves were hanging from their mobile. They were very proud of their gorgeous mobile!
Mrs Ovenden said the children's favourite autumnal activity so far has been conker rolling: "First we watched the conkers rolling up and down a long box lid and found ways of making them go faster. Then we took them outside with autumn coloured paints and made a beautiful backdrop for our autumn display by rolling the conkers up and down in the paint. The children loved it and were thrilled with the end result."
Our Kindergarten and Pre-Reception children have also been making the most of the last of the milder autumnal weather and exploring their wonderful new outside water wall, which they can assemble themselves. This resource encourages the children to work together using problem solving skills to create their own water feature. As the children assemble the water wall themselves it really keeps their interest alive.
Mrs Ovenden said, "When children are involved in setting up an activity it really gives them ownership of it and so provides more value. It was also wonderful to hear their amazing conversations as they created their own water wall."
Do pop in to the Kindergarten and Pre-Reception classroom to have a look at all their fantastic autumnal creations.
